My 300th dev, I haven't done any devent apo's lately so I made this goofing around with Terragen

I used this pic to import as a terrain file:

Nasa claims the "face" is created by shadows and is an optical illusion.

During experimenting with this I noticed something even more odd than "the face". The pic was imported into terragen, I used a strata overlay, the darker spots show the lowest parts of the terrain the lighter spots show the highest (I also used the mars "close up" atmosphere file but it wasn't included in final render)

If the "face" is created by shadows, the strata should be evenly spread out across the terrain/face the way I had all my settings done, it isn't, it shows differences in heights despite where the shadow from the camera fell in the pic at any rotation/settings I used.....

The right side of the face has been damaged like it fell off, you can see the eye outline, the mouth, and what looks like an artificial mountain range creating the helmet/hair, drastically dropping in height range on right side in my example....where if it WERE a 3D structure and then hit by a meteor on the right side, it shows the path where the meteor impacted (the darkest/lowest part of the strata/terrain on the top right side), went downwards and destroyed the right side of the "face/helmet/hair"

It almost looks more like a man who has been beaten up than a "spaceman", you be the judge....Regardless it was interesting making it

Made in Terragen, Also using Terraformer2 (to import the pic and export as .ter file), SO Overlay Plugin for Strata layer, and PSP X for the frame
